Joseph P. Sacco is a partner at Rosenberg, Fortuna & Laitman, LLP. He joined the firm in October of 2015 as an associate in the firm's emerging companies, responsible data handling/data privacy, internet technology and commercial litigation practice groups.

Mr. Sacco regularly counsels emerging companies and start-ups in the advertising technology (AdTech), marketing technology (MarTech) industries, as well as companies more broadly involved in the internet of things (IoT). Mr. Sacco focuses on responsible data handling and privacy issues, including issues concerning the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). Mr. Sacco is also a certified information privacy professional/Europe (“CIPP/E”) under the International Association of Privacy Professionals (“IAPP”). Mr. Sacco has completed courses from the Interactive advertising Bureau in Digital Fundamentals and Privacy Essentials, as well as the TradeDesk Edge Academy Marketing Foundations.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sacco served as a Judicial Fellow to the Honorable Leonard B. Austin, an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department. During his fellowship, Mr Sacco conducted extensive research on a myriad of legal issues at the appellate level ranging from breach of contract issues to criminal matters. Further, Mr. Sacco prepared legal memoranda with the objective of informing the court's opinion on issues on appeal, as well as provided the initial drafts of slip opinions.

Mr. Sacco also participated in the Touro Law Mortgage Foreclosure Clinic defending indigent clients in danger of losing their homes. During his time in the clinic, Mr. Sacco represented clients in court proceedings and settlement conferences, as well as negotiated mortgage modifications with banks and servicers with the goal of keeping his clients in their homes.

Mr. Sacco also served as a federal judicial extern to the Honorable Joanna Seybert of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. There, Mr. Sacco conducted in-depth legal research on complex issues involving breach of contract actions, constructive trusts, land use issues, as well as constitutional law as applied in both the civil and criminal context. Further, Mr. Sacco assisted the law clerks with initial drafts of orders on motions.
