Profile

William Schleifer is an associate at Rosenberg Fortuna & Laitman, LLP, having joined the firm in 2010. As an associate in the firm’s litigation practice group, he drafts litigation documents, researches legal issues, writes memoranda of law, prepares pleadings, motion papers and discovery, conducts and defends depositions, and negotiates settlement agreements. He also assists in trial preparation and attends Court conference and hearings. In the appellate practice group, he assists in the preparation of cases for the firm’s representation of appellants and respondents before federal and state appellate courts.

While attending St. John’s, Mr. Schleifer was actively engaged in the practical application of his law school studies. He worked for a year as a legal intern with the Office of the General Council of a prominent national life insurance company, conducting research and writing memoranda. He previously served as a law intern in the St. John’s University Child Advocacy Clinic, and at a law firm in Floral Park, New York. He has served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Harold Baer, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, where he assisted in the drafting of nine decisions, and conducted pre-hearing research. Additionally, he was a judicial extern for the Honorable Arthur J. Cooperman, Supreme Court of the State of New York, Queens County, and was a research assistant for Dean Mary Daly, the John V. Brennan Chair of Law and Ethics at St. John’s.

Mr. Schleifer is admitted to practice law in New York; he is awaiting admittance to the Connecticut bar.
