Profile In the firm’s real estate transaction practice group, Mr. Filosa uses his prior work experience in negotiating real estate contracts, leases, and financing commitments. He also conducts closings of various commercial and residential real estate matters. During 2006, Mr. Filosa was a law intern in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, a division of the United States Department of Justice. He drafted many documents related to criminal law, Title VII Race Discrimination and Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and constitutional tort law. In 2005, he completed an internship with Nassau County Supreme Court with the Hon. Stephen Bucaria, conducting legal research and drafting orders and opinions. Previously, Mr. Filosa was a law clerk to an attorney in Queens, New York, handling real estate and title matters from 2002-2004. At St. John’s University School of Law, Mr. Filosa was the recipient of the St. Thomas More Academic Scholarship and the CALI (Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction) Award for Excellence in Conflict of Laws. He was a senior staff member of the St. John’s Journal of Legal Commentary. As an undergraduate at St. John’s University, Mr. Filosa received both the Silver Key Award and Gold Key Award for Excellence in Economics.
